Media & Democrats Unwittingly Prove Trump’s Point: It’s A Witch Hunt

The US political news media — long exposed as bottom feeders in the swamp, terrified of a successful Trump Presidency, and thus trying to stop him by working as propagandists for The Resistance — have in recent weeks unwittingly helped confirm President Trump’s claim that the investigation into Russian collusion was nothing more than the front end of a witch hunt. Aided by an uncritical media that shares their rabid bias, Democrats are now investigating literally every aspect of Trump’s life; looking for any shred of wrongdoing or impropriety.

They don’t care what they find.

They don’t care where they find it.

They just want to destroy President Trump and disenfranchise his supporters, and they’re poring over every aspect of his life in search of any reason they can find to get away with doing both.

That’s a witch hunt, per Dictionary.com*…

Witch Hunt: an intensive effort to discover and expose disloyalty, subversion, dishonesty, or the like, usually based on slight, doubtful, or irrelevant evidence.

The media and Democrats spent the last two years in an intensive effort to find and expose wrongdoing, and the only actual evidence fueling their search is their personal dislike for Trump.

That’s a witch hunt.

RUSSIA? WHAT RUSSIA?!

A listing of Trump entities that Democrats in the Southern District of New York (SDNY) and Washington DC are investigating as part of their witch hunt…

  • TRUMP TRANSITION TEAM
  • TRUMP CAMPAIGN
  • TRUMP ADMINISTRATION
  • TRUMP ORGANIZATION
  • TRUMP FOUNDATION
  • TRUMP INAUGURAL COMMITTEE

So basically, the man’s entire life.

And during any given hour on CNN, you’ll find at least one host or “prominent” guest eagerly anticipating President Trump’s children being “taken down” as well.

If you’re a political operative looking for dirt on an opponent, all of this is entirely acceptable. If you’re elected government officials and allegedly impartial media trying to undo the results of an American presidential election, it’s not okay.

It’s a witch hunt.

And it has nothing to do with Russia anymore. For years the media insisted, “This isn’t an attack on President Trump. It’s a defense of our democracy from foreign adversaries. It’s something we should all be concerned about, and has nothing to do with tarnishing Trump.” Well, now that we know the extent of the Russian interference and Trump is vindicated of any collusion or conspiracy charges, the story changed. Now the Democrats are going after literally anything they can find, and the media — who spent years assuring us this was not a witch hunt — are eagerly cheering them on and, as they’ve done all along, breathlessly reporting on the phantom severity of even the most mundane discoveries. (See examples here and here and here and here and here.)

They don’t know what they’re looking for and don’t care how or where they find it. They just know they hate President Trump and his supporters, and they want to destroy us. And as a result, they’re operating as useful idiots for the very bogeyman they spent two years dishonestly purporting a desire to thwart: The Russians.

DEMOCRATS & MEDIA: USEFUL IDIOTS DOING PUTIN’S BIDDING

I wrote recently about “Lies That Become True Because The Media Tell Them So Much.” In that piece I made the case that media not only helps spin the news in favor of Democrats, but they also outright lie so flagrantly and so persistently that many of their lies appear to become “true” in the public forum.

One example I didn’t cite in that piece is the lie that the Russians wanted Trump to win. To support this lie, lazy partisan hacks like Chuck Todd and Resistance Jake Tapper will cry out, “But the IC report says the Russians wanted Trump to win. Why do you hate facts? WORDS MATTER. FACTS MATTER. WORDS AND FACTS MATTER!!!1!”

My response, from a piece back in May 2018…

When you hear someone claim that the intelligence community determined the Russians wanted Trump to win, ask them what evidence they have. If they point to the January 6th Intelligence Community Assessment, ask them why that same report is peppered with the caveat that attacks on Hillary were escalated only after it became apparent that she would win.

Take this one:

When it appeared to Moscow that Secretary Clinton was likely to win the election, the Russian influence campaign began to focus more on undermining her future presidency.

Or this:

When it appeared to Moscow that Secretary Clinton was likely to win the election, the Russian influence campaign then focused on undermining her expected presidency.

Or this:

When it appeared to Moscow that Secretary Clinton was likely to win the presidency the Russian influence campaign focused more on undercutting Secretary Clinton’s legitimacy and crippling her presidency from its start, including by impugning the fairness of the election.

Each of these statements, taken directly from the IC’s report on Russian interference, support the far more plausible but entirely ignored reality that the Russians were not interested in helping Trump. They were interested in hurting the presumptive winner, whoever that may have been. And that’s an enormous distinction. If the Russians wanted to help Trump, that’s a big deal. But if the Russians were focused not on Trump but on whoever the front-runner was, it’s a much different ballgame. The distinction destroys the media’s entire Trump/Russia narrative, which is of course why you never hear about it.

The Russians didn’t “want Trump to win.”

They wanted to sow disunity and discord amid our citizenry. They wanted to divide us. And to achieve that goal the Russians used the exact same tool that Democrats today have built their entire platform on: identity politics. (That alone is a remarkable revelation from this entire episode, and one that too few people are looking at and talking about. Just go look through the Facebook ads that were bought by Russian operatives. For every one ad you see supporting Trump, you’ll find 20 that use Democrat talking points and causes to stoke racial division and hatred.)

The irony shouldn’t escape anyone: The media and Democrats told us that Russian meddling in the 2016 election was so pronounced that we needed to investigate it. They insisted it had nothing to do with “going after” President Trump. And they were offended any time someone called it a witch hunt. The ensuing investigation into Russian meddling revealed that Russia’s primary goal was to use deception in an effort to divide our nation and sow discord with respect to our democracy. But rather than accept and learn from that reality, the media and Democrats are instead doing the exact same thing: they’re using deception in an effort to divide our nation and sow discord with respect to our democracy.

“ALL THOSE GUILTY PLEAS PROVE IT WASN’T A WITCH HUNT!”
-Idiots who host CNN programs

If I were to investigate CNN and their employees for colluding with Russia to divide our nation and conspiring to carry out a soft coup against the sitting US President, I guarantee I’d bring back a lot more indictments and guilty pleas than Mueller did. Because as we all know, the Mueller indictments and guilty pleas had nothing to do with the original charter. It’s easy to just walk in a building, investigate anyone and everyone associated with the people in that building, and uncover a lot of wrongdoing in those peoples’ lives. And that’s not even factoring in the part where any one of those people might fall into a perjury trap during the course of my investigation.

CONCLUSION

If you start with “We need to know if Trump colluded with Russia!”, and end with “We were right to spend two years obstructing Trump’s presidency and sowing division in the US because we learned someone associated with Trump committed tax fraud 20 years ago,” you’re on a witch hunt.

That’s what this whole thing started as. And most of us, including President Trump, knew it.

And now that the entire Trump+Russia narrative is supported only by lies (“Russia wanted Trump to win”) and deflection (“Tax fraud and conspiracy to help Russia steal an election are basically the same!”), the media and Democrats have moved on to investigate literally any and everything else they can find to destroy President Trump and his supporters.

It’s a witch hunt.

And if the media’s astonishing hatred for Trump and his supporters didn’t make that obvious over the last two years — then their casual shift from “This is about protecting our democracy, not destroying Trump” to “Get me anything you can about anything Trump did wrong at any point in his life,” should.

END

*When looking up a definition for “witch hunt,” I first landed at the Merriam Webster page. The people at Merriam Webster have a long and unfortunate track record of being political hacks who take joy in going after President Trump and his supporters. Want to bet me that their definition of witch hunt was crafted with partisan intent? See for yourself…

WITCH HUNT:
1 : a searching out for persecution of persons accused of witchcraft
2 : the searching out and deliberate harassment of those (such as political opponents) with unpopular views

In my recollection, the term “witch hunt” usually meant the person doing the hunting is in the wrong. But per the people at Merriam Webster, the hunted — by definition — have “unpopular views.” I wonder who they might be trying to impugn here?

Hard to see once-great institutions like Merriam Webster throw away their credibility and reputation for cheap political points, but that’s what people on a witch hunt will often do. If you’re on Twitter, you can ask them yourself by clicking here.
