CNN’s John Berman on Sunday expressed concern about potentially “normalizing” President Trump.
Discussing the President’s speech in Saudi Arabia, former “Face The Nation” host Bob Schieffer said “Very few people would disagree with me when I say he helped himself today because he didn’t sound like the guy at the end of the bar popping off. He sounded like someone who had actually thought about what he was going to say before he said it.”
Not content to let Schieffer’s marginal approval of the President stand, Berman then said “You know Bob though that there will be people who look at that last comment you just made and say you’re normalizing the President. You’re saying because he met this admittedly very low bar for not sounding foolish, he was in fact Presidential.”
Schieffer, now a bit defensively and not wanting to be seen as friendly to President Trump, replied, “Well I’m not trying to normalize him in any way. I’m trying to do what reporters do. And that’s report, and try to emphasize what I think was important here.”
Berman’s concern about “normalizing” the duly elected President of the United States reflects not only bias, but delusion. And it is among the many reasons why CNN is literally the least trusted name in news.
